Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five grands prix.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team ran a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
